The new jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 372,000 in June, and the unemployment rate remained at 3.6%. Both numbers were better than economists had forecast ahead of the report.
The biggest gains occurred in professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and health care.
This news comes on the heels of another U.S. Department of Labor report showing that there 11.3 million unfilled jobs in May, or one open job for every two people looking for work.
