Supermodel and self-proclaimed nerd Karlie Kloss gets it: every industry is being transformed by tech, and the secret language used to do that is code.
To help spread that message to young women and give them the opportunity to learn this “superpower” skill, Kloss has launched summer camp programs, Kode With Klossy, in 10 cities across the U.S. for girls 13-18.
On The Today Show Friday Kloss spoke about how she was struck by the importance of code and how it powers all of the technology that we touch on a daily basis when she took a coding class three years ago.
“It’s amazing how this skill can be applied in so many industries,” she said.
It was then that she knew she wanted to provide these camps to young women because of the doors it can open for them in today’s workforce.
This summer, more than 300 girls will attend Kloss’ two-week camps, and as of this article’s posting there was still time to apply! Kloss also offers a career scholarship program that awards one applicant each month the opportunity to join an amazing online community of web developers, learn Full Stack Web Development, and have the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship with one of their partners.
