It’s important for employers to be a steward of career development for their employees, according to Molly Nagler, chief learning officer, PepsiCo.
WorkingNation sat down with Nagler at SXSW EDU 2023 in Austin.
She says that education is a force for equity, explaining that PepsiCo provides its employees access to more than 100 certificates, degrees, and opportunities for upskilling and reskilling through its myeducation employee benefit. The company will cover 100% of tuition costs, books, and fees for a wide variety of education programs within the debt-free catalog, in addition to its established tuition reimbursement program.
“It advances equity because it empowers everyone to continue their education and achieve whatever they believe is next for them in their career. There’s no manager approval. There’s no cost to the employee (using the debt-free catalog). We’ve eliminated those barriers to access. It’s just for the employee to determine what makes sense for them,” explains Nagler.
She adds, providing education opportunities gives workers lifelong employability within the company and elsewhere.
