The movement of $2 trillion of assets under management companies to the city of Miami in just 18 to 24 months represents a seismic shift, according to Mayor Francis Suarez.
WorkingNation sat down with Suarez at the Milken Institute Global Conference 2022 in Beverly Hills.
“In my opinion, it’s pulled the gravitational center of the United States away from New York and Silicon Valley and brought it to Miami. It’s a trend that I only see getting stronger,” says Suarez, who is also currently the president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
He continues that FinTech, climate tech, and biotech are sectors most of the world is watching.
Suarez notes local residents are not being left out of this new growth with educational initiatives being put into place with high school and higher ed institutions to provide access to tech skills.
He also points out that this growing economy also needs to fill jobs that are not tech-specific, including sales, marketing, and accounting.
