New U.S. jobless claims filings totaled 787,000 for the week ending October 17. This figure is the lowest since mid-March. It also represents a decline from the previous week of 55,000 claims.

From Illinois: WSIL reports aviation job training to meet future demand resulting from the expansion of Southern Illinois Airport.

From Alabama: Energy Institute of Alabama reports the state has announced a $1.5 million grant to expand skilled trades training at Bevill State Community College.

From Maryland: Technical.ly reports that due to the pandemic, 10 Baltimore programs have adjusted their offerings for tech training.

From New Mexico: Los Alamos Daily Post reports $2.6 million in federal funds will boost online education/career training for high school students.

From Ohio: The Columbus Dispatch reports JP Morgan Chase is committing $7 million to prepare young workers in underserved communities of central Ohio for jobs.

From Texas: PR Newswire reports Microsoft is collaborating with Texas on new programs and events to address the need for digital and technical skills in the workforce.

From Wyoming: Casper Star-Tribune reports 200 new call center job openings for Casper residents that can be done remotely.

From Hawaii: Pacific Business News reports the University of Hawaii teams up with the city and county of Honolulu for a $3 million job training program.

Prior to her position at Corporate Anthropology Advisors, Ardi served as a Partner/Managing Director at the private equity firms CCMP Capital and JPMorgan Partners. She was a partner at Flatiron Partners, a venture capital firm working with early state companies where she pioneered the human capital role within an investment portfolio.

Ardi holds a BS from the State University of New York at Buffalo as well as a Masters degree and PhD from Boston College. She started her career as professor at the Graduate Center at Fordham University in New York.
