Women remain underrepresented in STEM industries such as computing and engineering. A new study from YouScience, a company that works with more than 7,000 education institutions to guide student career decisions, says that lack of exposure to career opportunities is preventing young women from pursuing STEM careers despite showing a strong aptitude for them.
“This finding underscores a core challenge that many educators, parents, and students grapple with, namely, how to best connect education and career preparedness in a way that encourages student participation and engagement and provides data-based direction beyond high school,” sates the report.
