Employers are gaining a better understanding of the technical skills that veterans can bring to the workplace, says Kate Migliaro, global head of portfolio talent, Searchlight Capital Partners. She notes veterans are also bringing companies their leadership and communication skills.
WorkingNation sat down with Migliaro in Atlanta at the Warrior Community Integration Symposium – an annual convening of veteran-serving organizations hosted by America’s Warrior Partnership.
Migliaro says, “I think a civilian employer can determine if a veteran is the right fit for a job, by going through a structured interview process. What they’re looking for and how they define success, be very clear on the expectations of a role.”
“At the end of the day, the person interviewing has to like the company as much as the company likes the person. Coming to a consensus on what that is – is super important for it to be the right fit for an organization and for the veteran.”
