I could play coy and wait to tell you that artificial intelligence literacy tops LinkedIn’s new list of most in-demand job skills now, but I imagine you’ve already guessed it.
According to LinkedIn’s inaugural Skills on the Rise 2025, based on analysis of recent jobs listings, the ability to use AI effectively has emerged as the top skill companies are increasingly hiring for.
The report says employers are looking for workers who have the “ability to understand and utilize tools harnessing that technology for business purposes.”
The required skill is showing up across all industries, not just tech, but also higher education and more. The report says the most common job titles listing AI as a must-have skill include software engineer, product manager, and CEO.
By the way, adaptability shows up on the list at number three. “With the rapid pace of change in the workplace – from economic shifts to technological advancements – continuous learning and resilience are key to staying ahead of the curve,” according to the report.
LinkedIn data indicates that by 2030, “70% of the skills used in most jobs will change.”
