In order to lift up people, there has to be systemwide change, according to Patti Constantakis, director of economic opportunity, Walmart.org.
WorkingNation sat down with Constantakis at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego.
She says, “We want to shift the whole system. We happen to believe that a skills-based system is actually going to do that. We have funded all across the system. There are employers in that system. There are learning providers in that system. There are the workers in that system. Then there’s this whole technical infrastructure, as well. We fund in all of those areas.”
Constantakis adds, “For us, it’s really about the pathways that have existed before have not been very equitable. How can we build a skills-based system that is a learning and employment system that will allow for advancement?”
