“One of the biggest challenges with our particular community is reassuring them that despite a disability that they can be productive, active in the workforce, and that there are jobs available for them,” according to Charles McCaffrey, director of the veterans career program, Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).

WorkingNation sat down with McCaffrey at the NASWA Veterans Conference in Washington, D.C.

McCaffrey says ongoing employer support for veterans with disabilities is essential to helping them transition into the civilian workforce. “It’s walking them through all of the processes” and that includes having support systems in place.
