A new campaign encourages employers to tear the paper ceiling. The initiative from Opportunity@Work and the Ad Council encourages companies to look beyond the college degree requirement.
Byron Auguste, co-founder and CEO, Opportunity@Work, says employers are missing out by not considering STARs – people who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes. “If you tear the paper ceiling, you can see what you’re missing as a company.”
“STARs shouldn’t have these barriers to opportunity. They should be able to deploy their valuable learning to more earnings, but it’s not just for STARs. It’s absolutely for employers and for industry, and for our society, because we need the problem-solving capacity that STARs have.”
