“If anybody is ever questioning the value of lifelong learning, the debate is, ‘Who pays for that?’” says Bertina Ceccarelli, CEO, NPower.
WorkingNation sat down with Ceccarelli at Presented by JFF Horizons – See Beyond 2022 in New Orleans.
“We argue that it really needs to be a combination of public support, as well as corporate investment in their own workforce to ensure that they’re developing talent from the entry-level ranks. And to be able to continue to support them in their growth as they continue their professional journey,” says Ceccarelli.
“We, without doubt, see that companies that choose to invest in their talent and identify strong potential early on and see it realized through additional development and training have, on average, two to three times the retention as companies who don’t have the systems in place,” notes Ceccarelli.
She explains that NPower students learn during their orientation how critical it is to be a lifelong learner, particularly in the field of technology. “The pace of change is relentless, and you have to keep your skills sharp if you’re going to stay employed and grow in your career. So, number one lesson is to be adaptive, to be agile, and to always have a learning mindset.”
