The unemployment rate for November was 6.7%, down from the October rate of 6.9%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). “In November, notable job gains occurred in transportation and warehousing, professional and business services, and health care. Employment declined in government and retail trade,” according to the BLS.
Meanwhile, there was a drop in the number of initial jobless claims for the week ending November 28 – down to 712,000. The data from the Department of Labor is less than economists’ projections of 780,000 claims.
