The jobless claims for the week ending November 21 totaled 778,000, according to the Department of Labor. That figure is higher than the 733,000 expected by economists who were surveyed by Dow Jones. For some perspective, in mid-March, weekly claims were roughly 225,000.

The unemployment rate for November will be released on Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

From Arizona: Prescott eNews reports the Arizona Commerce Authority announces an initiative to train and certify 5,000 students for entry-level cloud computing careers by June 2022.

From Idaho: Post Register reports a $1 million dollar grant will cover the tuition for 30 graduate students at Idaho State University over the next five years.

From Massachusetts: BusinessWest reports Holyoke Community College has developed career-track courses related to occupations in the cannabis industry.

From Missouri: West Plains Daily Quill reports the Missouri Office of Workforce Development is continuing its series of virtual job fairs through the end of the year.

From North Dakota: AJOT reports a new Amazon fulfillment center in Fargo will create 500 jobs next year.

From Puerto Rico: NimB reports Bayer Crop Science Puerto Rico is recruiting talent from the island’s deaf and partially deaf community to fill soy pollinator positions with plans to expand job offerings throughout the season.

From the Virgin Islands: The St. John Source reports a small business owner has established a skills training and entrepreneurship program targeting youth, ages 16 to 21 years old.

Prior to her position at Corporate Anthropology Advisors, Ardi served as a Partner/Managing Director at the private equity firms CCMP Capital and JPMorgan Partners. She was a partner at Flatiron Partners, a venture capital firm working with early state companies where she pioneered the human capital role within an investment portfolio.

Ardi holds a BS from the State University of New York at Buffalo as well as a Masters degree and PhD from Boston College. She started her career as professor at the Graduate Center at Fordham University in New York.
