As a principal, he’s been able to have impact on student career development, says Aaron Huff, Ed.D., practicing principal at Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana and immediate past president of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

He says, “My role as principal in influencing career pathways is significant. I would say that the role of principal is extremely significant in influencing career pathways for kids in schools.”

Huff joined WorkingNation’s editor-in-chief Ramona Schindelheim for WorkingNation Overheard at College Board Forum 2024 in Austin, Texas.

He cites – as an example – the collaboration with Toyota’s 4T Academy in nearby Princeton, Indiana. “To the extent the partnership that I have is fostered through me. It was really an opportunity for me to find creative ways for our students to see beyond what’s in front of them.”

Huff explains the participation of Benjamin Bosse’s students in the program spans two years, “It really is an advanced manufacturing pathway towards graduation. Students are learning about mechatronics and automation, robotics, even electrical operations.”

Huff says, “I think that’s the next wave of education and what we need to do…is reimagine what high school education looks like.”
